Patricia Davis HNP Program Coordinator

Patricia received her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences from Our Lady of Holy Cross College (presently, University of Holy Cross). Prior to her degree, she was employed with Charity Hospital as a Surgical Obstetrics Technician in maternal health (labor and delivery). Earlier in her career, she worked diligently at LSUHSC Stanley S. Scott Center as a high-risk coordinator in the breast clinic, and later with all oncology patients post-Katrina, as well as volunteering with the American Cancer Society. Patricia developed and implemented the Greater NOLA Patient Navigation Program at LSUHSC School of Public for, which was then, the LSU Interim Hospital. She has certification of training in Patient Navigation from the Harold P. Freeman Patient Navigation Institute (Harlem New York), Disaster Navigation, 1st Aid Psychological and Mental Health, Youth Mental Health Adult Mental Health, SAMHSA Center for the Application of Prevention Technology (Substance Abuse Prevention Skills).

As a professional contractor with the LA Department of Health Office of Behavioral Health, Patricia worked with the Plaquemines Parish community in addressing and education the community on the prevention of the misuse of non-medically prescription drugs and underage drinking among youth. In addition, under the Consortium for Resilient Gulf Communities with the Plaquemines Community C.A.R.E. Center, she coordinated and delivered presentations on health education, disaster preparedness, community resources, and most importantly, medical and behavioral health needs. As a program coordinator at TSPHTM in the Global Environmental Health Sciences dept. she recruited and enrolled women in Transdisciplinary Research Consortium for Gulf Resilience on Women’s Health. Patricia serves on the coalition of C.A.N. DO (Community Action Network) which addresses PIC (Parents, Infants, Children) through Crescent City WIC. She has participated in the Joint Center for the Political and Economic Studies, Joint Center Place Matters Action Lab.

She has received recognition from Sigma Gamma Rho, and the University of South Alabama Coastal Resource and Resiliency Center for Excellence in Community Service, and Outstanding Community Service, respectively. When not at work, Patricia enjoys traveling, and spending time with family, especially her four grandchildren.
