Dr. Catherine Taylor’s is a researcher and adjunct professions at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Taylor holds a Phd from UCLA, MPH and MSW from Boston University. Her research focuses on prevention of family violence, particularly child physical abuse, corporal punishment, and intimate partner violence. She designed her work to be translated and disseminated to disrupt the intergenerational cycle of violence as well as reduce childhood trauma and resulting health disparities.  Taylor‘s public health approach to violence prevention targets population-level, social norms’ change (e.g., education of professionals and universal parenting education).  Her research methodologies have ranged from randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental designs to large epidemiologic studies, surveys, and focus groups. She has taught GCHB 6500 Violence as a Public Health Problem and GCHB 6120 Introduction to Monitoring and Evaluation  She also is co-teaching SPHU 3660 Adverse Childhood Experiences, an interdisciplinary 360 course for undergraduates.
